Why You Need To Show “YOU” On Your Business Blog.

Having a blog on your business website is a proven way to keep your site showing up in search results as well as the best way to communicate with your customers.

A business blog is also the best place to offer insights, tips, help, and information to your customers.

On your blog, you can grow a real person to person community for your business. A community that isn’t reliant on rented property like followers on the Social Media platforms.

But, there’s one very important thing to keep in mind when setting up and sharing content on your business blog; let ‘you’ shine through your content.

Why do you ask?

Because most people prefer solo bloggers rather than company blogs.

People prefer content offered by another authentic person. A real person, not a business spokesman sprouting the latest company line.

Bloggers and blogs that have personalized content are proven to have more loyal readers and customers.

These days people want to feel a connection to your business and the quickest and easiest way to do this is by offering conversational type content. Nothing turns people off faster than slick “official” content that looks as if it’s been created by a bot or marketing machine.

Be you, by writing conversationally and using real-life examples. Don’t get stuck writing “how to” articles without any personality.

And don’t feel as if you need to be super chatty, bubbly, or overly enthusiastic. Be the real you.

Additionally of course, including user content supplied by your customers can be a huge hit.

Your readers will love seeing how other customers are enjoying and appreciating your products and services because there’s no better compliment or endorsement for your business than the word of others.

The tide has turned, these days when researching a purchase people want to connect with the companies that they buy from. So give them a real person to connect with.

Plus, the above strategy demonstrates to potential new customers that they can more easily trust you. And trust can’t be bought. Right?

Let me know in the comments if you have had added success with using personalized content on your blog.

  1. You know how I am; everything I write and so has my personality in it. I’m not sure I’d be as voluminous if I had to sound like someone else. Even on my business blog, before I found my “true” writing voice, I knew it had to have a lot of my personality… for better or worse! lol

  2. Hi Amanda, I’ve been working on this more especially using video to do it. People want to know who you are, behind the blog and business. Very important!

  3. Hi Amanda,
Personalizing your content in a conversational manner will help you attract new readers as well as build a blogging community because your personalized/conversational blog content makes your target audience feel that you care for their interest.

  4. This is great advice Amanda.

I’ve had some success with personalized blog posts. It’s created great connections with readers – several of which have become clients. 🙂

Thanks for sharing this! Hope you’re well. 🙂
